Chanter Reed Humidor
I've always been a fan of Cigars for special occasions. Something that really impressed me about Cigar "culture" were the Humidors. A good Cigar can remain so if the proper relative humidity and temperature is maintained. People can spend thousands on beautifully crafted, cedar lined, exotic wood humidors. They're really something! But I don't have that kind of money. And frankly, people shouldn't have to spend a lot of money to take care of their reeds.
So what did I do? Well, I borrowed some of those techniques and methods from Cigar Culture. I coupled those with modern digital hygrometers and 2-way humidity control packets. Then I designed up a smart looking Chanter Cap that has a lot of very convenient features I just KNOW you're going to love! And best of all, it's shaped like a reed, which is cool. I mean, I could have shaped it like anything I suppose, but I thought a reed made more sense than, say, a carrot or Christmas Tree.
Anyway, here are the features:
- EXTRA LARGE DIGITAL READOUT.... Let's face it, we're not getting any younger. I need reading glasses now, apparently. So yeah, I fired that Optometrist.
- NO THUMBSCREW! Unlike traditional Chanter Caps that have a thumbscrew, (Which WILL catch on stuff and/or get lost) my chanter cap is secured by simply rotating the bottom half of the bottom part, and it's secured! The offset grippy thingy (that's a technical term) secures BETTER than a thumbscrew and it won't get lost!
- Split Threaded design! Simply unscrew the top from the bottom and you have convenient access to change the packet, and you have access to the Hygrometer batteries if you need to change them!
Plus, if you live in an area with high humidity, you'll need to have a way to protect the reed while at the same time allowing it to dry out very efficiently so mold doesn't grow. If you remove the top part, you've got a reed protector that's called the "Reed Cage". It'll dry out and protect your reed!
It's a two-for-one!
